Directions:

From I-16: 

Take the US Highway 301 S exit.  Turn right onto Hwy 280 W. (second traffic light in Claxton).   Drive 1/4 mile and the church building will be on your right.

From Hwy. 301 N:
Once you come into the Claxton city limit, turn left at the second light. Drive 1/4 mile and the church building will be on your right.

From Hwy. 280 W:
Continue on Hwy. 280 until you cross over Hwy. 301.  Drive 1/4 mile and the church building will be on your right.

From Hwy. 280 E:
After the first traffic light, on your left you will see Ace Hardware, a church, NorthSpring Asst. Living, a church, and then First Baptist will be the next building.
 

Meet The Staff:

Dr. Bill Perry, Interim Minister
Nate Varnier, Children and Youth Minister
 

    Nate works mainly with our children and youth, from ages 4 through 12th grade.  He is from New Kent, Virginia, which is a small town just east of Richmond.  He graduated from New Kent High School in 1997, and also from Virginia Tech in 2001, where he received a Bachelor’s in Forestry.  Nate has worked in various fields since graduating, such as forestry, environmental science, and engineering before receiving a call to ministry at the age of 30. 

    Nate was raised in a small, rural church in New Kent, and thoroughly enjoys the small town life, as it provides for a strong community feel.  He graduated from Baptist Theological Seminary at Richmond in May of 2012, receiving a Master of Divinity degree.  He started with First Baptist Claxton in June of 2012, just after graduation, and is enjoying it immensely!  He previously served as a Youth Minister and Young Adult Minister prior to coming to First Baptist Claxton.

    He is married to Julie, his wonderful wife of just over one year, and they are expecting a baby in February of next year.  Julie works at Optim Healthcare as a Physician’s Assistant.  Nate also has a wonderful daughter, Emma, who has recently started the fourth grade.
